I was born in Brooklyn and my family moved to Long Island when I was eight years old. I have to admit I loved growing up in the Five Towns and going to Lawrence High School, where I developed a group of lifelong friends. I graduated from Boston University with a degree in early childhood education. While in college, I interned at WBZ-TV on the show Superkids. After BU, I headed back to New York and briefly worked freelance at Good Morning America until I landed a permanent job as the publicity assistant at Macy’s Herald Square. I promoted events such as the Thanksgiving Day Parade, Fourth of July Fireworks, Santaland, the Flower Show, and the Madonna Look-A-Like contest. My next stint was as the special events manager at the FAO Schwarz flagship store. I planned black-tie galas, as well as author appearances with some of my favorite children’s authors including Maurice Sendak and Laurent de Brunhoff. I also organized after-hour birthday parties, and the premiere of the Tom Hank’s movie, Big.
Next, I went onto working for the NYC Host Committee for the Grammy Awards which included helping to put together the Musicare’s Benefit honoring Bonnie Raitt, Grammy-in-the Schools program and a Natalie Cole concert at the legendary Apollo theater. When that project ended, I consulted at GLAMOUR magazine, where I coordinated their Glamour Do’s and Don’ts parties.
After getting married with three toddlers in tow, we moved out of Manhattan and to the suburbs. I decided to take time off from my career in public relations and marketing to raise my children along with our loveable but high maintenance Labrador.
For years, I volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island with two friends, where we made hundreds of comfort baskets to give to patients and their families. After my mother, who was an author and magazine journalist, passed away from Alzheimer’s; I wanted to follow in her footsteps and become a writer.
I have completed five romantic comedy scripts and two novels. To connect with friends during the Covid pandemic, I hosted zoom cocktail parties and collected 150 sweet “meet cute” stories of how couples met and fell in love.
I am also the executive producer on the coming-of-age thriller, What Breaks the Ice.
Over the past five years, I have enjoyed participating in different writer’s workshops. I am a member of the Women’s Fiction Writers Association and New York Women in Film and Television. My favorite place to work is in my kitchen with a scented candle and a cup of coffee.
I am a big fan of Manhattan, searching for the best place to eat chicken parmesan or freshly baked chocolate chips cookies. I enjoy long walks on the beach, during any season as well as great conversations with friends and traveling. I can’t sit still when I hear music; I love dancing of any kind. I appreciate a polite snowstorm, one where the snow decorates the trees, but we don’t lose power! I like to hunker down and watch a romcom or read a heartfelt page-turner.
